RITE-VU HAZARD RECOGNITION SYSTEM ADDRESSES LOADING DOCK DANGERS INSIDE & OUT

$
0
0
MODEX/ATLANTA (April 9, 2018) – To mitigate the multidimensional dangers facing workers at loading docks, Rite-Hite® has introduced two new products to its Rite-Vu™ Light Communication Systems family –Pedestrian-Vu for the dock’s interior, and Approach-Vu for its exterior.

Inside the dock area, Pedestrian-Vu uses motion-sensing technology to trigger a bright blue light that projects onto the dock leveler when it detects material handling equipment or a pedestrian’s presence inside the trailer. Pedestrian-Vu also works in conjunction with Dok-Lok® products to alert any dock worker or forklift that enters an unsecured trailer. The blue light flickers as an audible alarm alerts the unsuspecting dock worker that they’ve entered an unsecured trailer, while the external light system simultaneously changes to red, warning the truck driver that there is activity inside the trailer.

Outside the dock opening, from a fixed location above the dock door, the new Approach-Vu sensor detects the motion of a tractor-trailer backing into a dock position. A visual and audible alarm located on the Dok-Lok vehicle restraint alerts dock workers and pedestrians in the drive approach of the impending danger. This multisensory alert system is particularly important because ambient noise often masks the sound of a cab’s noisy engine, which can be 70 feet or more from the back of the trailer.

The complete four-part Rite-Vu system features Corner-Vu™, Leveler-Vu™, and the newest technologies, Approach-Vu and Pedestrian-Vu. This combination of components uses motion detection, line-of-sight notification, and audible alarms to provide hazard recognition and communication to people on and off of forklifts. Working in tandem, these safety tools help create a safer more productive loading dock environment, both inside and outside, by keeping people a step ahead of the potential dangers in their path.

RITE-HITE REINVENTS THE VEHICLE RESTRAINT CATEGORY

$
0
0
MODEX/ATLANTA (April 9, 2018) – Rite-Hite is reinventing the vehicle restraint category with the Dok-Lok SHR-5000. This exclusive restraint uses a patented “shadow hook” design to secure traditional trailers, as well as intermodal container chassis and trailers with rear-impact guard obstructions. The universal design of the Dok-Lok SHR-5000 is intended to meet the evolving needs of loading dock operators and the rise in intermodal container traffic. It also supports upgradeable loading dock safety technology, such as the Rite-Vu Hazard Recognition System.

“In today’s global economy, loading dock operators are receiving a wide variety of trailers and containers,” said Chad Dillavou of Rite-Hite. “The shadow hook is a universal restraint designed to secure the widest amount of trailer configurations and sizes, including intermodal chassis. It’s a universal restraint designed to meet the challenges of today’s loading docks.”

In addition to having the most substantial wrap on rear-impact guards and the widest vertical engagement range (9-30 inches), the Dok-Lok SHR-5000 incorporates a shadow hook that provides an additional layer of safety when dealing with rear-impact guard obstructions.

How It Works
When the Dok-Lok SHR-5000 is activated, the hook attempts to wrap around the rear-impact guard. If the hook comes in contact with a rear-impact guard obstruction, the shadow hook pivots to secure the trailer in place. If the trailer moves, the shadow hook locks in the safety stop, which helps prevent a wide variety of trailer separation accidents.

In addition to safely securing the widest amount of trailers and intermodal containers, the Dok-Lok SHR-5000 is a physical theft deterrent and can interface directly with security systems to help prevent trailer theft, which is a growing issue. According to CargoNet, cargo thefts accounted for losses of roughly $173 million in the U.S. last year, with food and beverage being the most targeted product category.

The Dok-Lok SHR-5000 is engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of a loading dock environment. Its solid steel construction can withstand repeated contact with trailers backing in and out of the loading dock area, while powerful extension springs provide superior upward force against rear-impact guards to keep a trailer secure during loading – even with air-ride trailers. The Dok-Lok SHR-5000 features a corrosion-resistant finish and an IP-66 rated motor to prevent water and dust infiltration. Finally, the unit stores above ground to stay clear of ice, snow and other debris.

The Dok-Lok SHR-5000 comes standard with the Rite-Vu Light Communication System, which provides clear, constant communication of restraint status to the truck driver, forklift operator and loading dock personnel. Beginning in 2017, the system includes Approach-Vu, which alerts workers outside at a loading dock that a trailer is backing into a dock with an audible alarm and strobe light. On the inside of the loading dock, newly added Pedestrian-Vu shines a blue light onto the leveler when there is activity inside a trailer to avoid possible collisions. It also locks the Dok-Lok when it detects activity inside a trailer. These upgrades complement the other indoor features of the Rite-Vu Light Communication system: LED lights located on the control box, upper corners of the interior dock door (Corner-Vu), and mounted on the dock leveler (Leveler-Vu).

“Systems Integrators will love this lift,” states Schlegel.  “It can be up-and-running in no time and the control integration is seamless. It doesn’t get any better than that!”

Wildeck is in its 42nd year as the largest manufacturer of industrial steel work platforms (mezzanines), VRCs (vertical reciprocating conveyor), and safety guarding products.

According to Schlegel, “No other manufacturer offers such a strong portfolio of storing, lifting, and guarding products to improve operations. Whether it’s our new XpressLift™ Automated VRC, a custom designed mezzanine platform, or our full line of safety guarding products; Wildeck offers a level of quality and craftsmanship that customers won’t find anywhere else.”

A service, parts, and technical support Help-Line is available 24-7 at 800-325-6939 to keep the XpressLift™ and any other Wildeck® vertical lift operating at peak efficiency. According to Todd Canham, Product Manager, Lift Products, “The XpressLift™ automated material lift is part of Wildeck’s continuing commitment to helping our customers’ projects run smoothly while making their operations safer, more efficient, and more profitable.”

Wildeck, Inc. – headquartered in Waukesha, Wisc., with additional manufacturing operations in Goodyear, Ariz. – is a member of MHI (Material Handling Industry Association), MHEDA (Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association), FMA (Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International), and the NAEC (National Association of Elevator Contractors). PNEUMATIC LEVELER AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTS PALLET LOAD HEIGHT

NORTON, MA — The P3™ All-Around level loader from Presto ECOA Lifts is economical as well as ergonomic.  Though it requires no electrical power and little maintenance, it virtually eliminates the productivity-robbing, injury-producing bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching common to pallet-loading applications.

The pneumatic airbag of the P3 All-Around automatically lowers or raises a pallet as boxes are added or removed, maintaining the top layer at a convenient height.  And the turntable ring (or optional solid turntable platform) at the top of the unit allows the user to spin the load so he or she can stand in the same spot throughout the loading or unloading process.

The stable base of the P3 All-Around is smaller than most competing equipment.  This allows the user to step even closer to the unit’s platform, further improving the ergonomic benefits of the P3.  Fork pockets at the base allow for easy relocation.

The P3 All-Around can accommodate loads from 400 to 4,500 lbs.

NORTON, MA - The PowerStak line of compact, fully powered stackers from Presto Lifts are loaded with ergonomic, convenience and performance features.

PowerStak units are built on a short yet extremely stable wheelbase to enhance maneuverability, even in tight quarters.  An ergonomically designed handle puts all controls within easy reach for maximum operator comfort and convenience.  Forward- and reverse-drive thumb switches are located on both sides of the handle to accommodate left- or right-hand operation.  The unit’s narrow mast and offset control handle ensure a clear forward view, with virtually no blind spots.  An auto-reversing belly switch protects operators from potential injury when walking the unit backwards, while an automatic brake halts travel when the drive/steering handle is released.

A turtle speed setting reduces drive speed by 50% for more precise positioning.  Straddle legs fabricated from solid steel provide additional rigidity and eliminate deflection, even under maximum load (2,200 lbs.).  The electrical system has been upgraded with a reliable, industry-recognized controller and contactors.  Power is now delivered by two sealed, maintenance-free AGM batteries.

Available in fork-over design for use with open-bottom pallets or adjustable straddle design for use with closed-bottom pallets, the new PowerStak models are more reliable than ever.  Maximum lift heights range from 62” to 150”.

NORTON, MA — Perfect for a variety of uses in manufacturing, warehousing, retail, and even office environments, XBP Series portable electric scissor lifts from Presto Lifts Inc. could hardly be more ergonomic.  Regardless of the application, the operator can transport loads and lift them to a convenient height.  These battery-powered tables lift and lower at the touch of a button.  They roll smoothly on any surface, even carpet, yet can be stabilized safely with a foot-operated floor lock.

Whether used for transferring loads to and from workstations, picking orders, positioning materials at production machines, or even as a variable-height workstation itself, the lift reduces production time and employee injuries by eliminating repetitive bending, lifting, and carrying.

The sturdy steel construction of XBP Series lifts provides lift capacities of 1,000, 1,500, or 2,000 pounds, depending on the model.  Travel, the distance between a unit’s lowered and raised height, can be 24 or 36 inches.  Maximum raised heights range from 33 to 53½ inches.  Each model comes with a choice of two platform sizes, which range from 24 x 36 inches to 48 x 60 inches, but oversized/custom platforms are also available.  Oversized casters (two fixed, two swivel) provide easy maneuverability.  All six models feature lifetime lubricated bearings, a 12-volt battery, and a built-in battery charger.

NORTON, MA — Presto Lifts announces the expansion of its popular LiftStik line of lifter transporters. The Model PLS53-150 features compact design, unmatched maneuverability, and powered lift making it ideal for stockrooms, assembly areas, laboratories, offices, retail stores, food manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities.

The LiftStik’s mast-style configuration places the platform and load directly over the four wheels to provide maximum stability. Using the fingertip control switch, operators can position loads at any height from 4.5” up to 53”. Lift controls are conveniently mounted on the push/steer handle and can be accessed when transporting loads. Lifting speed is a fast 4.75 inches per second. The lift mechanism consists of a steel reinforced cam belt. There are no hydraulics, so there is no chance for messy fluid leaks.

Two platform options are available: wood laminate which measures 17.75” x 15.5” or HDPE plastic which measures 19.5” x 19.5”. The lifting capacity is 150 pounds at a 15.75” load center, regardless of the platform specified.
Power to the lift mechanism is supplied by a 24 volt 7.2 Ah battery. A 115 volt external charger is included.

Front and rear swivel casters roll easily on any surface. Rear wheels feature a foot actuated floor lock to prevent the unit from moving as items are loaded and unloaded, or when used as a work positioner.

Introducing the fastest, certified mixed parcel scale in the world. Developed by WIPOTEC, the HC-FL is a rugged, high-speed double scale with the weighing accuracy demanded by the global CEP industry. WIPOTEC’s HC-FL series scale is a combination of two single scales utilizing both dynamic and static weighing techniques. Both scales can work independently or in tandem to create a virtual third scale. The first scale captures small package weights, while the second scale captures medium size packages. Larger packages dynamically use the effective weighing areas of both scales to capture the weight simply and accurately with the utmost precision.  This double scale design offers 60% more throughput at the same speed compared to single scale options. The HC-FL double scale series may also accurately weigh packages during acceleration, decceleration, and on ascending or descending slopes. Best of all the HC-FL series is NTEP Certified at line speeds of 670 ft. /min with lighting fast 50ms weight capture times.
